CRUK recycling

Cutting our carbon footprint
is an important step forward
At Paragon we believe in supporting worthwhile schemes that will encourage economical and environmental reducing of carpet waste.
Paragon is a fully sponsoring founder member of the newly created Carpet Recycling UK Ltd operation. The operation is a collaboration between manufacturer and CRUK to uplift tiles and broadloom carpet at the end of their lifecyles and forward them onto charitable second uses, meaning an environmental approach to recycling.
CRUK LTD
Once Paragon has installed carpet on-site it needs to be then removed again at the end of its lifecycle. CRUK will take this carpet tile or broadloom back as part of an agreement with the manufacturer and end user.
From here CRUK can use the carpet environmentally in a number of ways
- the carpet is wet cleaned and repurposed for charitable organisations that require a carpet flooring solution
- alternatively the carpet can be taken for shredding and remanufactured into a polpropylene bundle or pellets - this repurposed and shredded carpet can then be made into well known household items such as compast bins and even park benches
- With extensive links with DEFRA the government body, the scheme is a fully operating solution to carpet waste
There is a number of benefits to the scheme :-
- less waste from the manufacturer as it is taken to CRUK and shredded into polypropylene bundles ready for repurposing
- less waste at the end of installation lifecycles as the carpet is taken for recycling
- less landfill waste as carpet is being constantly recycled
- Backing of government bodies to ensure a correct and proper handling of waste
